Pet Request

This morning on the news we saw a baby giraffe that was born at a zoo on the east coast. Shelby thought he was sooooo cute. These are the comments that followed:

Shelby - "I want that baby giraffe for a pet. I'll forget about the stinkin cat."
Mom - "Not this week sister".

Bedtime Prayer

Last night I was saying a bedtime prayer with Shelby. We usually cover the same things: thank you for her, help her sleep well and not dream, help her stay warm...... Last night at the end I added: "Please help Shelby to be a good girl and listen the first time." When we were done she said, "You didn't have to say that about being a good girl and listening". She said this with a disgusted sort of tone of voice! :) I told her yes I did because she needs the help.

Support the Green

I changed my background to St. Patrick's Day to celebrate the Irish in me. My grandma Mosley was 100% Irish so I like to remember her by supporting some green in March. Happy St. Patty's everyone!

Silly Sayings.... but Not Always Funny

These two girls always have something to say. I have been trying to jot some things down as they say them. Like usual, these things are probably more funny in person, but I will do my best to share some silly thoughts.

Morgan:
- While eating a Valentine cupcake: "This cupcake is nummy stuff!"
- Her response to my request for her to come to me; "No way Jose. I'm over here reading my Bible for a bit."
- Comment to daddy while he is trying to rub her back- "I'm busy here working on my Valentines".

Shelby:
- Conversation with me one morning after she was up way too late the night before: Me- "You were up too late last night. You were still up after I went to bed."
Shelby's response- "That's a shame". (This is the reason for the not always funny in the title).
- While eating her lunch today: "I told my teacher today that my dad is a real couch potato. And she laughed."

Shelby & Morgan
-Conversation in the car on the way home from school today:
Morgan- "I had coffee cake for breakfast".
Shelby - "Did it have blueberries in it?"
Morgan - "Yes."
Shelby- "What did it taste like?"
Morgan - "Blueberry coffee cake."

Happy Valentine's Day

Here are a few photos from Valentine's Day. Shelby had a little party at school and I decided to step out of my comfort zone & take Morgs to a party at church. It was a little nuts and I think she was slightly overwhelmed. I wasn't disappointed when she said she wanted to go home. The game they played was stick the lips on Ms. Valentine. She did pretty good.

T-i-r-e-d of the C-O-L-D

I am about done with this cold weather! Day after day of freezing cold temps with a little wind is wearing me out. There just isn't something right about getting excited about the idea of the high for the day reaching 36. I don't mind the snow of winter (unless it gets in the way of my travel plans :)). I would rather see the white stuff then brown, matted down grass and yuck mud. And kids, coats & car seats. Uugh. I so love summer! Bring on the humidity!

And how about that poor man in Michigan who froze to death in his own home because the power company turned off his power. He had ice cycles hanging off of him when they found him! That is just plain wrong. I need to get in touch with my mom. I haven't talked to her for a while and I need to make sure she isn't frozen. Since they live in the country and have to buy their own fuel oil, they keep the temp at 59 in their house during the day when no one is home and maybe bump it up to 64 in the evenings. Usually if I call her shortly after she has gotten home she is sitting with her coat still on trying to warm up! I just read on Facebook this morning (that thing IS good for something) that you can buy those Snuggies at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I think I am going to get my mom one to replace the PJ's I bought her for Christmas that didn't fit and were returned.

Stay warm everyone!

Advice for the Coach

I have had several things running through my mind that I could share on this BLOG (don't worry it's not more poop). :) But real quick before I take Shelby to school I wanted to post a funny. As Nate was leaving this morning she said to him, "Bye daddy. Remember, if you don't land it, keep on swinging it". He asked her where she heard that. She said from her baseball movie (Everyone's Hero). A little piece of advice for the baseball coach. It's important to keep learning new things you know. After Nate was gone she went to the drawer and pulled out an index card and pen. As she pretended like she was writing she said out loud, "Dear players. If you don't land it, keep on swinging it. From Shelby". And it's amazing how the ideas spread. Next thing you know here comes Morgs out of the toy room with a baseball that she throws across the kitchen floor!
