Homecoming 2011

A few weeks ago, Normal West had their homecoming. We managed to watch the parade and not blow away! The girls each scored a quart Ziploc bag of candy. That is what parades are all about, right?

It's.....Twins!

Just what she needed! Morgan was out shopping with her dad. She talked him into buying twin baby dolls. They were $5 so he thought, why not? Obviously he hasn't taken inventory on our current baby supply! As you can see in the picture, she cut out their names from the box. She taped them on the babies so she could remember who was who. The pink baby has a head support that came from an old car seat. She has been using that in the carrier for her other little baby for awhile. The blue baby has a small white blanket that she used to make a head support for. Then she talked him into taping the wheels of her two strollers together to make a double stroller. It's a little wide for the house. I've found a cute one to add to the Christmas list. This house is turning into an orphanage!

Fall Soccer Wrap Up

The girls finished up the fall soccer season. Shelby made big improvements from last year. She went from volunteering to sit out a quarter, to volunteering to play the entire game. She looked like a player, anticipating the direction of the ball. Obviously she has a lot to learn, but I thought she did great for someone who rarely kicks the ball around outside of the season. Morgan turned out to be a better player than I thought she'd be! She enjoyed the first game and then after that said she wasn't going to play after the season. Well she's signed up and payed for the spring season, so we'll see what she thinks after that. Below are their individual and team pictures. Morgan's team is missing several. They took good pictures for a windy and chilly day out there on the prairie.

Such An Imagination!

My little Saasafrass is such a corker! She is always coming up with something. Yesterday at the mall food court we ran into a friend from church. We talked about the house that they are building in Lexington. On the way home Morgan said she was going to rename her baby doll Lexington! Which is fine with me. I might actually be able to remember this one! This afternoon she was messing around and she decided to make a cast out of a paper towel and she attached it to her foot with scotch tape. The best part is she got the two little wooden chairs from the toy room to use as her crutches! Isn't she something?!?

My Fashionista

I saw this taped to Shelby's vanity. I thought it was funny. I feel that I have lightened up a bit when it comes to some of the things she wants to wear; however, we still have some fashion disagreements. She thinks she knows everything and I don't know anything. Enjoy Shelby's Fashion Tips!

Morgan's Reading!

I kept Shelby's Kindergarten sight word book. This summer I pulled it out and started working with Morgan to get a head start. She knows all of those words now. Friday she brought Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? home from the library. So at bedtime I had her read it. Obviously this book has a lot of repetitive words but she did great with the colors and animal names.And then at Shelby's soccer game yesterday, she brought a Dora book along and she read it with just a little help from me.
I love how easy it is to work with her on learning. I think it is the second child syndrome at its best. She is even bringing me the flash cards to work on math. I have to turn her down because it is such a struggle helping her sister who needs to work on it more. Unfortunately, this same sister doesn't feel the pressure of her little sis as an incentive to work harder!
