Late afternoon on Friday, we headed down the road to Nate's grandparents to celebrate with the rest of the Metzger family. Nate's cousin Mark and his FINALLY fiance, Christina come from California. Here they are with the girls.
Morgan, Shelby, Reese, Trey & Drew with Mark & Christina
There are not a lot of toys at great grandpa & grandma's so the electronic games help keep them entertained. Reese, Shelby, Morgan and Trey had a competitive game going on.After dinner the adults had an exciting white elephant gift exchange. This year we did it a little different. The kids passed out 1 gift to each adult. Papa Russell read the Christmas story. Every time he read the word, "and", we passed our gift to the person on our right. At the end of the story, whatever gift you are holding is your gift. Somehow no one ended up with a gift they brought. Soon after we finished, it was time for the main attraction: the annual appearance of SANTA CLAUS!
He received word about Mark and Christina's recent engagement so they were the first to sit on his lap.
Santa telling the Christmas story to the kiddos. He always asks them questions to keep them involved. Once the true meaning of Christmas is told, 1 by 1 the gifts come out of the bag. The recipient sits on Santa's lap and opens their gift.
Shelby was excited about the Spy Kit she had on her list. Santa asked her if that was something she wanted and she said, "Yup, it was at the top of my list!"
Little momma was sooo excited to get a double stroller for her babies
Santa apparently has 11 Christmas trees in his house. The week before, Nate's parents & grandparents had been by there to see the display. Santa said to the kids, "Guess who came to my house last week?" Shelby replies, "The real Santa Claus"! Santa didn't like that answer!Soon after gift opening we went back to Papa & Nonny's. I don't know about the kids, but the adults were quickly running out of steam! 1 more Christmas to go on this trip.............
