#7 for Morgan!

Today was Morgan's 7th birthday.  The only day of the year she pops out of bed at 6:45 with a smile on her face!  She opened her gifts before school.  We had cake late after Bible Study.  I think she had a good day.  I remember the day she came home from the hospital my dogwood tree was in bloom.  We aren't quite there yet this year.  I will post some pictures of her gift opening to document the day.
 Shelby's gifts
When we were back home at Spring Break we spent a few hours with my friend Kim who has 2 girls their ages.  The 4 of them decided they were going to be pen pals.  So I made some homemade stationary with Hello Kitty and Monkeys.  I made some return address labels and bought her a sheet of Pixar Movie stamps they saw at the post office.  Found the perfect monkey folder to put it all in.
A purple sparkly binder I turned into a recipe book for my little cook/baker
more homemade gifts for my little teacher
I made her a behavior chart, class list chart, library cards for Kit Kittridge & Ruthie Smithens complete with photo id's.
I picked up another binder for her to keep some of her school papers in when she is playing teacher.
she loved this monkey paper
she's been waiting a long time for the AG doll kit with crutches, casts and so much more
it was good to see that 7 years later the tongue still makes an appearance
every injured doll needs a wheelchair
She got the slide to go with the new swing set from last summer!
 and a new bike
her first one that has not been a hand me down
 quick test drive before school
annual flower/balloon delivery from Papa & Nonny Moe
she wanted funfetti cake with this crazy purple frosting
her 7 candles weren't quite as easy as the 1 in her cinnamon roll this morning
her asthma lungs took 3 tries to get them all
at least she held her hair back so she didn't catch it on fire
Aunt Ashley left her some cinnamon roll cake she made, some candy, a balloon & a note for a day of choice.  Our friend Beth Ann brought her THREE loaves of pumpkin bread to Bible Study and totally made her day!
We will do it again in 2 weeks for Shelby and then in 3 for their party.  Tis the season.  Happy Birthday Morgan Aaron!  You've made the last 7 anything but boring.

Upward Cheerleading Finishes Up

Morgan's first year of cheerleading ended the same day as Shelby's basketball season..... waaaay back in early March.  I think she enjoyed it.  Her only complaint was the pom pons made her itch.  The girls did pretty good considering they were all 5 or 6 years old.  Some a little more squirrely than others.  Here are a few photos and a video from the pom routine they performed at halftime of the last game.
Morgan is on the end on the right in the back row
She never caught on to my hand signals to move over so I could see her around the girl in front of her!

We will see how long she is interested in cheering.  Next year she says she wants to do both but I told her she had to pick one or the other.

Upwards Basketball Wrap-up

Shelby's winter basketball program through Upwards finished up the first weekend in March.  Her team ended up playing better than originally appeared in the first practices.  Although it was not pretty basketball to watch, it was entertaining (you know in the if you don't laugh you'd cry sort of way) and she seemed to have a good time.  Shelby's coach had a long stretch of illness one week so her husband coached their practice.  He worked them hard and made them run.  Shelby liked that and even requested he come to the end of another practice to make them run.  Too bad Coach Roy coached 2 boys teams so he couldn't help them out more than he did.  It was hard for me to get good pictures but I will post the few that I have.
The Lady Spartans
Next year Shelby gets to play in the big gym.  First we have to finish spring soccer, play summer softball and fall soccer.  But before we know it we will be back at Upwards Basketball!

Delinquent

We are still here.  This digital scrapbook is starting to look like the pages in the girls' paper scrapbooks - EMPTY!!  I've been busy and when I have had a few extra minutes, I've been mentally wiped.  No desire for creativity.  Since the power is out at our church tonight, I find myself sitting here with my feet up on a rare Wednesday evening.  While I watch Shelby play Wii, maybe I will post a few things.
