One Fish, Two Fish, Three Fish No More!

What is the first thing one needs to do when they get home after a 21+ bus trip from Florida?  For me, it is use the potty.  When we got home 2 weeks ago, grandma and the girls were not here.  I headed straight to the bathroom and lifted the lid.  And to my dismay, there was a dead goldfish looking at me!  I screamed, dropped the lid and yelled for Nate to come flush so I could use it!  Point number 1 as to why I didn't want a fish for a pet - I can't even flush a dead one!  The girls were given the goldfish at the park on Saturday from someone that had a birthday party.  They each named it.  Shelby called it Goldie and Morgan named it Helmoot.  I must say I was thankful that I was not home on Sunday morning when Shelby came down to find the fish had jumped out of the bowl overnight and was hard as a rock on the counter top!  That is the story of fish one.  They were not home when we got here because they were out shopping for a new fish.  This time they picked out a Beta they named Blue Eyes.  Keep in mind this was Sunday.  I went out of town on Friday to Milwaukee for my Bible Study Leader's Retreat.  Ashley was going to be watching them on Saturday & Sunday and I asked her to change the water in the bowl.  Well I got a text from Nate early Saturday that said they changed the water on Friday night and old Blue Eyes was dead in the morning.  Why doesn't anyone listen to the mom???  They claimed the water was too stinky and they couldn't wait another day.  I suggested they stop sticking their nose in the bowl and it wouldn't smell so bad.  So instead of changing the water for Blue Eyes, Ashley took them shopping for fish three.  They flipped a coin and Morgan got to pick it out.  They brought home another blue beta and named it Rainbow Eyes.  Fish one didn't make it a day.  Fish two didn't last a week.  Good luck Rainbow Eyes.   I really don't know if there will be a number 4............

Good Excuse, However.....

I took the girls to Taco Bell for supper.  Shelby has this issue with burping really loud while eating out.  She burped and this is the discussion that followed:

Me:  Shelby!
S: I can't help it!
Me:  You can try.
S:  Some people can't help it.  It's a medical condition.

Good one sis, but I don't think so!

Fun in Florida

I had a wonderful trip to Florida with Nate and the Hawks baseball team.  This was our 5th trip and 1 of 2 best weeks of weather we've had.  Perfect every day.  We also had our own 2 bedroom condo and that was fabulous.  We usually share a 3 bedroom place with the other coaches, which has never been awful but this was so nice.  Even better our place was in a different building from the team & other coaches.  It was on the bottom level and on the corner so it was kind of secluded from the rest of the rooms in the building.  PERFECT!!!  My only complaint is we didn't have a lot of time to spend there. :(  And that was the fastest week yet, despite the fact that the girls were sick all week back home.  There are not enough thanks to Nate's mom for her annual commitment to stay with the girls so I can go along.  And as usual, she took this unexpected turn of events in stride.  I anticipated a nice, relaxing week for her with the girls in school all day.  Well it turned out that the girls weren't in school most days!  Tuesday was a trip to the doctor and they both had Influenza.  That crazy illness lasts a good 7 to 10 days!  Shelby made it back to school last Monday but Morgan missed another day and a half.  I told her if she missed too much more school she'd have to repeat K next year!  Here a the only pictures I took in FL.

Something's Missing!

Nate and I went to a wedding last night. When we returned home, Shelby was waiting up for us. She came downstairs with her hand covering her mouth. When she took it away she had a big smile. She lost her 1st top front tooth. She hadn't mentioned anything about it being loose, so that was a surprise for us.
I told my friend Candi at church today that had I known she wouldn't stop smiling once she lost that tooth, I would have knocked it out for her! Just kidding Shelby girl! Even though you have grieved me more than love me these last few weeks! Honestly though, she is so excited she has been for the most part smiling ever since. Minus a few instances of course!
