Next Up: Surgery

Well it's not June and it's not an emergency (Morgan's past history has been every 6 months a visit to the ER), but next on the list of medical issues for our Morgie is tubes in her ears. Today we saw an ENT doc and he pulled out all kinds of wax. I watched on a flat screen that displays a magnified view of inside the ear. The doctor looks through a microscope of sorts and what he sees and is doing is displayed on the screen. A lovely nurse held her hands down and continued conversation to distract her from what was going on. At times I think it hurt a little but as usual she was tough. Her biggest problem is she likes to watch. Doesn't matter if she is getting shots or blood drawn or whatever, she likes to see what is going on. She probably would have been fine if she could have watched on the screen like me. Especially since both girls seem to have a fascination with "goop". Even after removing the wax, it was determined there is probably some fluid in there that is hindering her hearing. Test results show she does not have any damage to the bone structure of the ear which would have caused permanent hearing loss so that is a good thing. So, next Wednesday, May 19th, say a prayer for our girl. We have to be there 1 1/2 hours before the 5 - 15 minute procedure and stay about 1 hour for recovery. Pray also the little squirmy wormy doesn't get too restless waiting that morning at the hospital!
