A Trip South

Last weekend Shelby had Friday off of school so the girls and I headed south to spend time with Nate's family. Our first stop was at Papa Jay's and Nonny Mary's. They have all kinds of critters around there, with the newest being PJ the llama. PJ was very curious about checking out the girls when they first approached him. He quickly got into their personal space to sniff them out which was a little too close for comfort as far as Morgan was concerned. They had fun feeding PJ and Shelby enjoyed petting his soft fur. As you can see from the picture, Morgan is feeding him without getting any closer than necessary!
Papa took PJ out of his pen and took him for a walk. He had a funny gallop and didn't enjoy the sound of the Barbie Jeep all that much. I have a lovely photo of Nonny and PJ kissing and am willing to share for the right price! :)Next on the list of fun was making homemade Play Doh. Papa Jay even got in on the fun and helped Morgan mix hers up.
On Saturday morning they had a great time creating their own version of the Farmer and the Dell, right down to the package of cheese. This really would have been great to have on video. The photo just doesn't quite convey the goofy story. I think Papa Jay is very glad we don't have it on video! He was a great sport though playing the part of Farmer.
Over night we had a little bit of rain and on a farm a little bit goes a long way into making mud! The girls took the Barbie Jeep for a ride out to feed PJ. I don't think Barbie has ever seen so much mud! I told Morgan she looked like a little Amish girl in her dress and rubber boots!
Before heading out to Nate's dad's house, we stopped next door to his step-brother's to see the batch of new puppies. Pretty cute but not cute enough to convince me that we need one.
The girls could have stayed there all day playing on the trampoline and bugging Allison but we had to head out and see more family. Since Friday night's storm included strong winds, Nate's grandparents did not make the trip out to see us. So we made a quick stop at their house for a visit. We had a great time talking with Grandma Bud and I got my favorite pic of the weekend.
Next stop was Papa Russell's and Nonny Martha's. More playing outside riding bikes and visiting with great-grandparents. Shelby loves to cut flowers and help Nonny arrange them for centerpieces on the table. Morgan got in on the fun this time.
On Sunday we headed home. We stopped in Springfield to watch Nate's ball game. Papa Russell & Nonny Martha joined us as well as Nonny Mary who brought one of Nate's high school friends and his family as a surprise. After the game the girls were excited to join daddy's team for supper at the Pizza Machine. This is a pizza place that makes a 60 inch pizza. We had 2 45 inch pizzas that they lower on a crane from the upper floor ovens. One of Nate's new favorite TV stations is the Food Network which did an episode that highlighted this place. Good pizza but even pizza's that size don't go far with 20 some college boys!
We had a full weekend but it was good to see everyone again.
