This week was a first for our family. All four of us went to the doctor in the same week. Thank God for insurance but 4 co pays! Monday, I had a scheduled annual exam. So, no sickness for me. When I got home from there I loaded up the girls and took Shelby to the doctor. Sunday after nap time, she was complaining of not feeling well. When she came to sit with me in the chair I realized how warm she felt. Took her temp and sure enough she had a good fever going. In the 102 range. Her temp did reach a high point around 104. She also kept complaining about her eyes hurting. At the doctor it was confirmed she had an ear infection. She was disappointed she had to stay home from school. She wasn't sure how some of her friends were going to make it through a couple of days without her! On the way home from the doctor we were sitting at a stop sign across the street from her school. She repeated over and over, "I miss Oakdale. I miss Oakdale". Her fever broke Tuesday night while she was sleeping. So she returned to school on Wednesday and was quickly on the mend with some antibiotics.
On Tuesday night I was holding Morgan before bed and I thought she felt awful warm. Got out the thermometer again and sure enough she was running a fever. She had to miss her first story hour at the library and AWANAS at church Wednesday night. On Thursday morning she still had a temp and said her stomach hurt. After eating some oatmeal and a lot of OJ, up it all came! We assume her stomach was upset from the fever reducer. She seemed to feel fine after that as she was bouncing like a crazy person on the trampoline. Her Dr's. nurse did think she should come in for an ear check since she had the fever 3 days. Her ears were clear and it was determined she had some kind of virus. My goal is to really keep this one healthy since she can not get a flu shot. People with allergies to eggs can not get it. She was fine Thursday after seeing the Dr. and had fun at Shelby's school's open house.
Nate is the next victim. On Thursday night in his sleep he dealt with the hot/cold issues. He headed to the doc after work and practice on Friday. He was running a 101 temp and was diagnosed with something like laryngitis. I think his fever broke while he was sleeping in the chair on Friday night. I looked over at him and his hair and face looked like he had been out in the rain. Hopefully his meds will heal him quickly and his yuck day today did not make him more ill. His team traveled 5 hours one way to Evansville, IN to play 2 games in the rain. It is kind of hard to coach 3rd base and not yell. He said other than his throat was killing him he was feeling better.
So that leaves me. Praying I stay healthy because if I get sick, who is going to play nurse for everyone else, and moms don't exactly get sick days!
